Bronze For SUSHIL KUMAR

Men’s 66 kg Freestyle: Sushil Kumar

1.Freestyle grappler Sushil Kumar earned the Beijing Olympics berth after finishing seventh in the 66-kg weight category at the World wrestling championship in Baku.2.Sushil won the first Olympic quota for India after making it to the quarter-finals. He won his first three rounds with convincing margins before losing to Ukraine’s Andriy Stadnik 4-15.




3.Sushil finished 14th in Athens and would certainly like to better his record at Beijing.

4.Sushil became the second Indian wrestler after K D Jadhav who won a bronze in the 1952 Helsinki Games to win an Olympic medal.



5.Incidentally, in the 2006 Doha Asian Games also, Sushil had beaten Leonid to win the bronze.
